Benny's on the Beach Brunch - An Honest Review
There’s something undeniably magical about brunching on the beach — and in Palm Beach County, that magic exists, but not everywhere. On a crisp Sunday morning in Lake Worth, with the Palm Beach Boat Show just around the corner, I found myself spending more and more time in this gorgeous coastal haven. My friends and I arrived at Benny’s on the Beach right at the prime brunch hour of 11 a.m.
Neither of my friends had ever been, but I have fond memories of past visits, and I knew just how special this place could be. Nestled on the newly renovated Lake Worth Pier — hovering literally over the sand since 1986 — Benny’s is a Palm Beach County institution perfectly perched on this historic stretch of coastline.
We were greeted by the sweetest hostesses, who guided us through our seating options with warm, effortless hospitality. Naturally, I asked for the “prime” spot with the best beach view — though truthfully, every table has the kind of view that makes your Instagram jealous. There’s just something about being near the edge of the pier, where the waves kiss the sand beneath your feet.
Once seated, it was impossible to resist ordering a piña colada served straight in a pineapple — a classic that tastes just as dreamy as it looks. For those who prefer a lighter sip, the virgin version is equally delicious.
The menu offered endless temptation, but I ultimately settled on the mahi-mahi fish tacos, a masterpiece of fresh flavors: pickled onions, creamy aioli, and cilantro rice. Being the unapologetic sauce lover that I am, I ordered extra aioli, plus a side of their signature pineapple sauce — a playful nod to my sweet tooth. We also indulged in ceviche and the unforgettable chicken and waffles, the latter crowned with a petite slice of cake for good measure.
Service was attentive without being intrusive, the flavors were vibrant and satisfying, and the setting…well, was nothing short of breathtaking. After brunch, we wandered down to the beach, letting the sand and surf extend the magic of the morning. It was one of those perfect Sunday mornings where the sun, the food, and the company all aligned just so.
If you’re looking for a coastal brunch experience that feels both iconic and relaxed, Benny’s on the Beach is the place to be.
